The Swedish Rescue Services Agency is a governmental authority which has established five stores in Sweden with oil spill response equipment for protection of the shoreline environment

When an oil spills occur in Sweden the municipal rescue services can supplement their own spill response resources with equipment from the Rescue Service´s oil spill response stores.  These stores are managed by the rescue services in Umeå, Stockholm, Vänersborg, Gotland and Karlskrona (see the map below).

However, the equipment in the stores are not adequate for all types of containment, recovery and clean-up operations. On some occasions it may be necessary for a municipality to acquire special resources.
